New homes for North Manchester

Peterloo Estates has today secured an enhanced planning consent at Blackley Mere in Manchester, taking the overall density of new homes to 76.

Outline planning permission to build 48 family dwellings on the former Bowker Bank Industrial Estate was granted in 2012. A further permission to build an additional 26 homes on the former eastern reservoir alongside was granted today, 10th April 2014.

The proposal will provide much needed family housing which will contribute to the overall housing supply in North Manchester.

The site lies in the Irk Valley in North Manchester. It is enclosed by the River Irk, woodland, a retained reservoir, and housing beyond. Peterloo Estates' Managing Director Stephen Barker commented;

“We are delighted with the Planning Committee’s decision. We are currently speaking to interested parties who are keen to develop this very attractive site. The quiet riverside and woodland surroundings will create a uniquely attractive setting for new houses in this urban part of Manchester. Blackley Mere is perfectly positioned for easy access to Manchester via commuter routes such as the Metrolink from local station Bowker Vale, and to pathways along the nearby Irk Valley.”

Peterloo Estates, together with Frost Planning, have been jointly advising the landowner.
